Polaris
Water Company is a member of the IBWA and Canadian Bottled Water
Association, which is a chapter of the International Council of
Bottled Water Associations. CBWA and IBWA have developed a set of
International standards to which Bottled Water is to be produced.
These standards typically exceed the requirements of Federal and
Provincial Government regulations. Polaris Water company has received
certification from NSF International which conducts an independent
inspection of the operation as well as testing the finished product
for over 100 different chemical parameters, including organics,
inorganics, metals, pesticides, herbicides, radiologicals, etc.
As part of
the IBWA model code Polaris produces water following a Multiple
Barrier process to production. Our source water for our natural
spring water is located in a remote Coastal mountain area away from
all industry or development. This source is approved by the Ministry
of Health and is monitored by independent laboratory testing. The
source water is transported in dedicated Stainless Steel tankers
under seal to our production facility where the water is tested
and off loaded to stainless steel storage tanks. Water from storage
is filtered through a series of tighter filters down to an absolute
rating. Final product water is ozonated to meet Industry Standards
for the finished product to eliminate all bacteria. Within hours
the ozone dissipates, converting back to oxygen before delivery
to any customers. The same process of multiple barrier filtration
is used for the production of distilled water and premium water.
This multiple
barrier approach is part of the overall HACCP program Polaris operates
under. The Quality Control department monitors all aspects of production
conducting hundreds of tests per shift including ozone levels, microbiological
testing of all aspects of the process system as well as finished
product testing. Samples are sent out for independent laboratory
testing for confirmation.
Other tests
are on the package, closure, equipment and process systems to ensure
all aspects of production are within standards and the Critical
Control Points are being monitored and validated.
The overall
QC program at Polaris exceeds the Industry or regulatory requirements.
Every effort is put towards ensuring product is safe for consumers
providing the refreshment that is expected.
